Las Vegas is Here, Ohio! [NSME June Speaker, Jamie Brown of MGM Northfield]

You probably think that Las Vegas and Ohio have little in common. Well, MGM Resorts International is looking to change that perspective with their rebranding and marketing campaign that launched MGM’s entry into Ohio’s gaming market. 

What sounds like a tall order (linking Sin City and the Buckeye State through a launch campaign) is just the type of marketing insight that NSME Akron/Canton event attendees anticipate each month; and NSME’s June field trip to MGM Northfield Park delivered.

Marketing is all about “success by design,” noted Ellen Moreau (Senior Vice President of Marketing Communications at The Sherwin-Williams Company) as she wrapped up her presentation titled, “Old but not Old School.” The 200 in attendance at the May 21st  Collaborative Summit Group Event had a century+ of strategic decisions to consider in their own marketing efforts.

Renato Camacho’s State of The Airport (CAK) at NSME Akron/Canton May Luncheon

“The community is key to the success of the Akron/Canton Airport.”

This was the key takeaway from Renato “Ren” Camacho’s presentation at NSME Akron/Canton’s May Luncheon. Since stepping into the position of President & Chief Executive Officer of Akron/Canton Airport last October (2018), Ren has focused on a few key areas: Positioning CAK for the future/Gate Replacement Project; Ease of airport access & customer service; and, Getting the word out & collaborating locally.

NSME March Workshop on CRM and Business Success

“All of us are smarter than any one of us.”

Thus began the March NSME Akron/Canton Workshop featuring two presentations. The first was an inspirational message, titled "Success Comes in Threes," given by Richard (Dick) T. Kiko, Jr., CEO/Broker of KIKO Company. Dick focused on the similarities between success in life and success in business. 

Later in the evening, Jean Gianfagna of Gianfagna Strategic Marketing, Inc. and Bob Sullivan of InfoGrow shared the spotlight for the dinner presentation. Their message, titled "Marketing Best Practices: How to Use Your CRM System to Grow Sales," was all about CRM systems and how to use them for maximum business value.

NSME Akron/Canton 47th Annual Accent on Excellence Event

On February 26th, 2019 we celebrated our 47th annual Accent on Excellence Gala. This annual event dates to 1973 when it was created to honor local business leaders for their exemplary contributions.

The evening was a great success. Over 350 people were in attendance to celebrate the 29 award recipients, including two special honorees – Executive of the Year, Outstanding Community Leader –  plus, a Collegiate Award Recipient.
